American Bitcoin miner CleanSpark stated on April 11th that it purchased 45,000 Antminer S19 XP ASIC mining rigs for $144.9 million. According to CleanSpark, Antminer will complete all ASIC deliveries before the end of September.
The company currently produces 6.7 exahashes per second (EH/s), and will have an additional 6.3 EH/s of mining power once all new mining machines are deployed.
CEO Zach Bradford stated:
The Antminer S19 XP is the most power-efficient Bitcoin mining machine available in the market today, and a key component in our continuing work to build some of the most efficient Bitcoin mining facilities in the country.
Of the 45,000 ASICs, 25,000 will be available in August, and the final 20,000 are anticipated to be running in September. CleanSpark commented that it aims to use all the purchased machines at its Bitcoin mining facility in Sandersville, Georgia, which is presently undergoing a 150-megawatt power expansion.
Bradford added that CleanSpark has continued to find ways to maximize the company’s return on investment during the bear market, including the opportunity to purchase the industry’s best mining machines.
The company purchased 20,000 ASICs in February that are planned to be deployed this quarter. By the end of 2023, CleanSpark aims to have a hashrate of 16 EH/s.
According to CleanSpark, more than 90% of the electricity used in mining comes from “low-carbon energy sources.” The company had $59.8 million in total liabilities at the end of 2022 and $486.8 million in total assets.
