Judge Determines Craig Wright Did Not Create Bitcoin
In a significant verdict, a London High Court judge announced that Australian computer scientist Craig Wright, who has repeatedly asserted he is the mysterious Bitcoin creator, is not Satoshi Nakamoto.
The judgment followed a legal battle with the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), which aimed to block Wright from taking legal action against Bitcoin developers and sought a declaration that he is not Satoshi.
On March 14th, 2024, Judge James Mellor announced his decision, stating that Wright is not the creator of Bitcoin. He indicated that a more detailed explanation for his ruling would be provided later.
The case was heard against the backdrop of Wright's ongoing legal disputes with COPA, during which Wright proposed a settlement.
In his offer, he suggested relinquishing alleged rights over the databases of Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Bitcoin ABC (ABC). COPA declined this proposal, arguing that accepting it would inadvertently validate Wright's claim to being Satoshi Nakamoto.
During the trial, COPA introduced new forensic evidence that discredited Wright's assertions, including the exposure of fabricated evidence by Wright, involving a Chat GPT forgery.
Despite Wright's continuous claims, COPA firmly opposes the acknowledgment of Wright as Satoshi Nakamoto.
