Hublot is the newest luxury brand to embrace the Bitcoin ecosystem. The Swiss watchmaker has partnered with BitPay in order to accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency payments. The new development comes as part of the promotional campaign for Hublot's limited edition Big Bang Unico release.
“Introducing the new Big Bang Unico Essential Grey, a limited edition of 200 pieces solely available online," the company announced. "Exclusively on our Hublot United States eBoutique, clients will be able to shop using select Cryptocurrencies with BitPay.”
The Big Bang is Hublot's flagship design, and the Unico edition is constructed from titanium.
While the company's partnership with BitPay has been rolled out in special support of the Big Bang collection's limited Unico offering, there is no declared end date for accepting Bitcoin payments. The partnership effectively marks the beginning of Hublot's acceptance of Bitcoin for their United States eBoutique.
For traditional brands, providers like BitPay represent a huge wing of support, allowing businesses to attract a new segment of customers by engaging with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in a streamlined process.
Hublot is not the first luxury brand to embrace Bitcoin – Gucci, Balenciaga, Farfetch, and even fellow Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer have all announced either limited trials or complete acceptance of Bitcoin as payment. Bitcoin payments are opening the doors for greater exposure to the Bitcoin and crypto crowd.
