Boltz has suspended its non-custodial Bitcoin swap services indefinitely after reporting a growing number of attacks against its infrastructure.
Update: Boltz will stay disabled until further notice.

Our API remains available to process refunds cooperatively. In any case, unilateral refunds will work, as they do not depend on our infrastructure.
Our support team stays reachable.

The company has not provided an estimated restoration time and said users should not expect swaps to resume soon.
According to Boltz, the shutdown was not prompted by a single incident.
Its infrastructure had faced months of automated, AI-assisted probing and several exploits, which the company said it contained. The attacks reportedly accelerated in the days before the suspension.
Boltz said it could no longer patch vulnerabilities as quickly as attackers were finding them.
Following its own security assessments, the company determined that restoring swaps while multiple well-resourced groups appeared to be targeting its systems would pose an unacceptable risk.
No user funds were at risk, according to Boltz, which said it absorbed the resulting losses.
Boltz’s API remains available for cooperative refunds. Unilateral refunds can also proceed because they do not depend on the company’s infrastructure, while its support team remains reachable.
Wallet integrations affected
The suspension affects wallets and services that use Boltz to exchange assets between Bitcoin’s main chain, the Lightning Network, and the Liquid sidechain.
AQUA Wallet, which uses Boltz infrastructure for some Lightning transactions, said its Lightning and Liquid swaps would remain unavailable indefinitely.
The @AquaBitcoin team’s top priority right now is restoring Liquid/Lightning swap services. We’re evaluating several different paths and have also offered to help @Boltzhq address issues in their infrastructure.

AQUA is evaluating alternative solutions and has offered to assist Boltz. The wallet provider said users’ funds remain safe and that unaffected functions, including sending and receiving Bitcoin and Liquid, remain operational.
Bull Bitcoin is also working to restore Lightning payments and transfers between Liquid and Bitcoin in its wallet. Until an alternative is implemented, those transactions may fail without an explanation in the app.
BULL is immediately shifting our priorities to resume the ability of BULL wallet users send receive Bitcoin payments over Lightning, as well as move funds between Liquid and Bitcoin. We are evaluating multiple options and are beginning the work right now.

The company said it is evaluating several options and working closely with Boltz. As a member of the Liquid Federation, Bull Bitcoin said it can convert L-BTC to BTC without depending on a third party and assured users that funds would not become stuck on Liquid.
Blockstream reported that in-app swaps are temporarily unavailable because of the interruption at Boltz. The company emphasized that only its swap feature is affected.
In-app swaps in the Blockstream app are temporarily unavailable due to a service interruption with our swap partner @Boltzhq.

Only the swaps are affected. @Liquid_BTC is unaffected, and your funds remain fully secure under your control. Send, receive, and all other core features…
The Liquid Network itself remains operational, while funds held through the Blockstream app remain under users’ control. Sending, receiving and other core features continue to work normally.
Boltz has not announced when, or whether, its swap services will return. The company said it would provide further updates after assessing its options.
