The UEFA Euro Championship 2024 in Germany is already underway, and football was prominently featured at BTC Prague 2024, one of the world's largest Bitcoin conferences.
The Bulgarian football team Botev Plovdiv had a booth at the conference, highlighting the connection between Bitcoin and one of the most popular sports in the world.
Botev Plovdiv adopted Bitcoin on October 31st, 2023 (block height 814670), and partnered with JAN3 in early 2024. Since then, the team has gained more traction and recognition, evident through its presence at BTC Prague 2024 last week.
The team's increased popularity and significance in Bulgaria's Bitcoin ecosystem are highlighted by Botev Plovdiv's integration of JAN3’s AQUA wallet, a Bitcoin wallet that helps people store their On-chain, Lightning, and Liquid assets.
Moreover, all of this is achieved in a non-custodial manner, giving users control over their savings, spending, and financial management.
At the conference, Botev Plovdiv’s Bitcoin director, George Manolov, participated in a panel with notable figures such as Nathan Day, co-founder of BTC Maps; Roman Martinez, community leader at Bitcoin Beach; and Richard Taylor, founder of Bitcoin Runners.
The panel focused on grassroots movements aiding Bitcoin adoption, a mission that Manolov actively pursues with Botev Plovdiv.
These strategic partnerships, an expanding community, and a strong presence at major Bitcoin events are expected to significantly advance Botev Plovdiv's goals, both on and off the pitch.
