On July 8th, 2024, a committee within the Republican National Committee endorsed a preliminary version of its 2024 party platform, which firmly backs Bitcoin.
In the document, page nine clearly declares, "we will defend the right to mine Bitcoin, and ensure every American has the right to self-custody of their digital assets, and transact free from Government Surveillance and Control."
Furthermore, the platform pledges to terminate what it refers to as the Democrats’ "unlawful and unAmerican Crypto crackdown" and stands against the establishment of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
According to The Hill, the platform committee strongly endorsed the new draft, which will undergo a final vote on July 9th.
This decision highlights the Republican party's clear support for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency innovation, positioning itself in opposition to the current stance of the Biden Administration and Democrats.
The draft signifies the party's growing interest in protecting and promoting Bitcoin, in line with broader trends of Bitcoin adoption among various Republican politicians.
In May, Donald Trump stated he "will ensure that the future of crypto and Bitcoin will be made in the USA."
