YouTube has reinstated the channel of Bitcoin educator Ben Perrin, known online as BTC Sessions, following public outcry from prominent voices in the Bitcoin community.

The channel, which hosted nearly a decade of Bitcoin tutorials and amassed over 16 million views, was removed earlier this week due to alleged violations of YouTube’s policies on "harmful and dangerous" content.

According to an official message from YouTube shared by Perrin, the platform cited "severe or repeated violations" related to the promotion of illegal activities, including unauthorized system access or hacking.

However, critics—including analysts, investors, and educators—argued that the ban was unwarranted and likely the result of an algorithmic error.

Bitcoin advocate Walker called the takedown “absurd,” while investor Parker Lewis and strategist Lyn Alden urged YouTube to reverse the decision.

“There is nothing remotely harmful or dangerous about this channel,” wrote mcshane

Others emphasized the educational nature of the content, especially regarding Bitcoin self-custody and scam prevention.

YouTube later acknowledged the removal was a mistake. “Confirming this was a mistake on our end and your channel has been reinstated,” @TeamYouTube wrote.

The platform noted that full restoration of the content would occur within 24 to 48 hours.

Following the reinstatement, Perrin thanked the community for its support, calling the response “overwhelming.”

Many urged him to back up his videos on decentralized or censorship-resistant platforms like Rumble to prevent future disruptions.

The incident highlights ongoing tensions between major tech platforms and independent creators in the Bitcoin space, raising broader concerns about content moderation, algorithmic enforcement, and digital censorship.
