Robinhood has added $25 million worth of Bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, according to Robinhood executive Johann Kerbrat, who disclosed the purchase in an October 7th interview broadcast on X.

The purchase is the company's first known Bitcoin holding for its own account and is separate from the digital assets Robinhood holds in custody for customers.

Based on Robinhood's second-quarter results, the $25 million equals less than 0.5% of the $5.4 billion in cash and cash equivalents the company held as of June 30th.

On the company's third-quarter 2025 earnings call, held November 5th, 2025, executives said they were still weighing whether to hold Bitcoin as a treasury asset.

The second-quarter results also recorded digital asset revenue of $100 million, down 38% year over year.

Robinhood's August operating data showed $17.5 billion in digital asset notional volume, up 61% from July and down 38% from a year earlier.

That total included $7.4 billion traded through the Robinhood app and $10.1 billion on Bitstamp, the exchange Robinhood acquired in 2025.

At its September 29th HOOD Summit, Robinhood outlined plans to offer perpetual futures, contracts with no expiration date, to eligible U.S. customers through Bitstamp, with up to 10x leverage on Bitcoin.

CEO Vlad Tenev noted in a September 29th X post that the contracts settle profits and losses every 15 minutes.

Robinhood is scheduled to report its third-quarter 2026 results on October 27th.
