Habbel brings experience across both finance and technology.
He co-founded Limestone Capital, where he served as chief executive and helped expand the firm into an asset management platform with more than $1 billion under management and a workforce of over 500 employees.
Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Google, contributing to projects such as Android, Google Maps, and Search.
He later became the founding chief executive of Voyat Inc., a travel-focused e-commerce software company acquired by Intent Media in 2016.
At Tether, Habbel is expected to work with portfolio companies and the investment team.
The company’s investments span multiple sectors, including artificial intelligence, telecommunications, Bitcoin mining and energy, cloud computing, digital assets, real estate, and neurotechnology.
“Tether isn’t just a stablecoin company – it’s The Stable Company. We’re building resilient infrastructure, advancing financial sovereignty, and pioneering a future that’s decentralized, resilient, stable, and powered by AI,” said Paolo Ardoino, Tether’s chief executive.
“With Benjamin’s leadership and expertise, I’m confident we’ll continue to strengthen this foundation and accelerate Tether’s evolution into a global technology and financial leader – one capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with the legacy giants we aim to disrupt.”
The company said the appointment reflects its plans to broaden its activities beyond stablecoin issuance, while continuing to focus on USD₮.
Habbel also serves on the boards of several firms, including Limestone Capital AG, Aethos AG, Eterniti SA, and Myne Homes.
