Originally launched in 2018, the Blockstream Explorer API has evolved into a high-performance solution for accessing blockchain data, supporting a wide range of use cases from wallets and exchanges to analytical tools.
Built on the open-source Esplora framework, the revamped service now features enhanced infrastructure, simplified onboarding, and transparent pricing, including 500,000 free API requests per month.
The newly introduced dashboard allows developers to instantly generate and manage API keys, monitor real-time usage, and handle billing in a streamlined interface.
The API offers fast, scalable access to Bitcoin mainnet, testnet, and the Liquid Network, with upcoming support for Electrum JSON-RPC services.
Designed for performance and reliability, the infrastructure includes US and EU-based servers with redundancy and a 99.9% uptime guarantee.
Privacy and flexibility remain key priorities. The API avoids persistent logging, supports separation between transaction broadcasting and data queries, and offers multiple payment options, including Bitcoin, Liquid, and Lightning via Zaprite.
