CEO of Strike Jack Mallers announced on Twitter that Strike is now an integrated partner with Clover’s parent company, the payments giant Fiserv. A pilot integration launched by Strike with Clover has since been established, enabling businesses to accept Bitcoin over the Lightning Network.

Mallers’ announcement states that the integration extends beyond Strike. Instead, businesses will be able to receive Lightning payments “from Cash App to a node over Tor. If it can make a Lightning payment, you can use it,” he explains in the tweet.

Mallers added that this rollout is part of a 90-day trial period in which the costs and speed of transactions will be monitored to assess the viability of the integration. Additionally, the amount of revenue that merchants receive from incorporating Lightning will also be reviewed.

Following a successful pilot program, Strike plans to enter the Clover app store and then be directly integrated into Clover. This will position Lightning as a default payment method similar to networks like Visa and MasterCard.

Mallers states: 

Ultimately, these payment giants want to see Lightning in action. They want to feel it, touch it, and see people use it. An open, instant, cheap, inclusive, and innovative payment network seems too good to be true. Time to show Lightning is the world’s superior payments rail.
